History
Mullen Towing & Recovery, Inc began as Emergency Auto Repair on March 27, 1957 It was located at the corner of North River Road & Brown Street Levee in a DX station. Dad pumped gas, did mechanical work, road service, and towing. Mom soon took over the books.
Dad and Mom arranged to manage the new Sinclair station at Howard and North River. Timing didn’t work out so, we moved into a two-car garage on North River until the building was done. The area flooded after a hard rain. There was a chicken processor plant on Howard, so the water was full of feathers. After a few weeks, they moved to the station, added more tow trucks, and a storage lot.
Our parents moved back to the two-car garage before moving back to the DX station. They bought land at 230 South River to built a building and storage lot. When they outgrew the space, a building was rented on First Street in Lafayette. During this time the Company Name and truck colors changed several times.
Railroad Relocation and U S 231 took both buildings! They moved to 1414 Canal Road on December 6, 1988. Bob passed on in 1992 and Evelyn in 2001. Today their daughter Linda own's the business. We continue the same values and aim to help anyone experiencing vehicular problems.
